As Nelson County students traveled to Jamestown yesterday for regional music contest, the following event occurred:
A message from activities bus driver, Mr. Larry Hoyt
Parents, think of the last time you were in a restaurant and a group of 25 lively high school students came in to dine. Now hold that thought as I tell you what happened when Nelson County's small group music students went out for dinner after their performances yesterday in Jamestown. After parking the bus I came in to see several of our students gathered around a table of patrons that were at least 3 generations older than they are. I paused for a moment, but things seemed to be fine so moved on. It turned out they were just visiting and the group had asked our students what they were in town for. Then, I found out they had requested our students sing a song for them. Our students quickly huddled up and came up with what they thought the elder group would like to hear. They then gathered back in front of their table and proceeded to grace them with a beautiful tune. The looks on the elder's faces were priceless. They thanked our students and started on their way out. Then one of the gentleman turned around and walked up and said, "You have a great bunch of students!" I replied, "They are the best!" I hope our students understand the magnitude of their very kind deed today! We are super proud of all of you. - Mr. Hoyt
