Lakota HS 8th graders finished a chapter on minerals and have now begun a chapter on rocks in Earth Science. In between, they completed this very fun gemstone project. They were assigned a precious stone and had to research its properties (chemical composition, luster, streak, hardness - Mohs scale), how it is formed, where it’s commonly found, if it has been known to have myth/folklore associated with it, and any other cool facts they “dug up.” They put all of their information into these beautiful tri-fold brochures!!
