Tuesday, January 14th
- Lunch today is French Onion Noodle Hot Dish.
- There will be a bus for lunch transportation today.

- Public Health will be at the school today for immunizations.
- 10th graders will be STAR testing today during period 1 in room 206. 7th graders will be STAR testing during period 2 in room 206.
- The 7th, 8th, JV, and Varsity girls basketball teams play today @ Northwood vs. Hatton-Northwood starting at 4pm. Players are dismissed at 2:35pm. Good Luck Chargers!
- Starting Thursday, January 16th the Lakota High School weight room will be open in the mornings on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 7:30-8:15am for students in grades 7-12 who sign up using the link provided in your Teams chat. Sign-up is required each day students plan on attending. The weight room will not be open if no students sign up for the day. Students who attend will be required to follow a lifting plan. Please visit with Mr. Snyder or Mr. Ackerman if you have questions.

- We will be STAR 360 testing this week in Room 206. Today, 11th graders will be testing during period 1 and 8th graders will be testing during period 2.

7th grade Life Science worked on a model of a cell this week! Each student was assigned an organelle and had to draw, color, and label it in detail. Additionally, they had to present to the class where the organelle is located in the cell and what it does to aid in cellular function.

Grades 1-4 Raider Runts this Thursday, January 2nd has been rescheduled to 3-4pm at the Lakota Community Center.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to First Community Credit Union for their generous support, which enabled 19 students to take home a Christmas book.











Our 1st Annual Puzzle Competition was a blast! Thank you to State Bank of Lakota for supplying the puzzles and hot chocolate bar and Vasichek Insurance - Preston Sundeen for the prizes!!
1st place, finishing in 1 hour 29 minutes was Anthony Terrell, Gavin Rader, Izibelle Haugen & Hayden Rader.
2nd place was Olivia Fossen, Sophia Beck, Hannah Halvorson & Wesley Fisk.











Another successful year of Derby Car racing at Lakota High School! Thank you to Lakota Drug, FCCU, and the Tillhouse for donating prizes. Congratulations to Taylor Joramo for best of show winner with her "Joramos and Grizwalds" car! Congratulations to Laura Steffan for best theme with her "Wonka Bar" car! And congratulations to our top three racers, 3rd place Sam Estvold, 2nd place Shelby Schwind, and our champion Max Franzen!

Friday, December 20th

- Today is the last day of school before Christmas Break and the end of Semester 1!
- The Junior High, JV, and Varsity girls basketball teams play today @ Mayville vs. MPCG starting at 4pm. Players are dismissed at 1:45pm. Good Luck Chargers!
- Tomorrow the C squad boys basketball team plays in a tournament at Park River starting at 10:30am. Lakota leave time is 7am. Good Luck Chargers!
- We will be running a modified schedule today. The schedule was sent to all students through Teams.
- Our Christmas Tree collaboration project will take place this morning from 9:30am-10:15am. There will be a shuttle bus to transport students to and from the elementary school.
- Derby car races and the puzzle competition will take place this afternoon starting at approximately 1:20pm. Derby cars will be in the gym. The puzzle competition will take place upstairs.
- School will be out of session for the holiday break. School will resume with Semester 2 on Monday, January 6th.

- Today is a 2-hour late start. Classes will begin with period 3 at 10:25am.
- The boys basketball game that was scheduled for today vs. Midway-Minto has been postponed. There will be no after school practices or activities today.
- There are 2 days of school left before Christmas Break and the end of Semester 1. Participate in the district wide 12 days of Christmas fun! Today is "Mad about Plaid Day", dress in your favorite flannel shirt, pants, or suit! Tomorrow is "Dream a little Dream Day", wear school-appropriate pjs and slippers.
- Tomorrow will be a modified schedule for holiday activities in the morning and afternoon. Students will receive the schedule through Teams.
- The derby car races and puzzle competition will take place tomorrow afternoon.

Last week the Lakota FFA chapter had the pleasure of competing in the district event at Mayville State College. This venue was truly accommodating and spacious for the event.
The students competed in parliamentary procedure, creed, green hand quiz, and regular quiz.
Everyone tried hard and did a great job! The 2 standouts for the Lakota FFA chapter were Taylor Joramo and Keira Matejcek.
Taylor placed 5th overall out of 112 competitors in the green hand quiz category and received a gold. Keira received a silver in the creed competition.
